BRIGHTON GOLD

(Composed prior to 1971; from manuscript held by B. Burke)

I’m a little yeller engine, ain’t I grand
as bright’n clean as the Brighton sand?
I’m a little yeller engine, ain’t I fine?
On the “London Brighton and South Coast” line!

So climb aboard, the more the merrier
swing on the tail of a Brighton “Terrier”
He’s woof-woof-woof, come along o’ me
to the London Brighton and South Coast sea!

Victoria Station I share with the “Dover”
- the “London Smash’em and Turnover”
But the gaunt black peasants of the “L.C.D.”
aren’t bright’n yeller and neat like ME!

So climb aboard, the more the merrier
Swing on the tail of a Brighton “Terrier”
He’s woof-woof-woof, come along o’ me
To the London Brighton and South Coast sea!

By Brighton money I was Brighton built
by Brighton sunshine Brighton gilt
I’m a little yeller engine, ain’t it fun
being bright’n yeller as the Brighton sun!

So climb aboard, the more the merrier
Swing on the tail of a Brighton “Terrier”
He’s woof-woof-woof, come along o’ me
To the London Brighton and South Coast sea!

Come along, come along, be a Brighton Beau
as off down the Brighton Line we go
with a little yeller engine, bright’n bold
who’ll swap your copper for Brighton Gold!

Climb aboard, the more the merrier
swing on the tail of a Brighton “Terrier”
I’ll woof-woof-woof  and bright’n bold
I’ll swap your copper for BRIGHTON GOLD!
